我对芝加哥大学的几个误解

有朋友被芝大录取，让我有兴趣仔细研究一下这个学校，发现过去我有很多不了解。

第一，我曾经以为芝大是个很大的大学。错，很小。

可能因为芝加哥是美国数二数三的大城市，而且又叫“大学”，想当然是个大学校了。其实，不要说和那些州大比，即使和名校比，也是小的。大概和Princeton, Yale差不多，不像哈佛、斯坦佛那么大。本科生5100到5300，每届1300左右。

第二，我以为芝大是个很古老的大学。错，非常年轻。

成立与1890年，别说东部的那些几个世纪的大学，就是和同城的西北大学都要年轻半个世纪。这在美国实在的小弟弟了。

第三，虽然知道芝大不错，但总以为是个二流学校。

芝大好像很本分，不张扬，连Big Ten都退出来了。可是，美国USNews，英国QS等都把芝大排在第四，总觉得很诧异。哈佛张扬不说，斯坦佛更是张扬，自称“#0”，连耶鲁也经常酸酸地说那些排名不屑一顾，因为没有被排第一。我就没怎么听芝大抱怨过。查了下历史，芝大总在十名以内，没有掉出去，傻傻的，呆呆的憨笑。

不过呢，也没见什么人对芝大有微词，毕竟，对于这么小，这么年轻的学校，诺贝儿就排名第一，真的是狠不容易。大家还是服气的。
