家长都要看，美国记者反思对亚裔的歧视

Bill Plaschke是美国洛杉矶时报的资深体育记者，昨天他撰写了一篇敦促美国人反省的文章“Knicks' Jeremy Lin holds mirror up to America”。 原文连接在这里：http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-plaschke-jeremy-lin-20120221,0,3935667.column

该文详细指出了在Jeremy Lin一举成名后，美国主流媒体中多次出现有意或无意的对亚裔的歧视语言，而这些现象是根本不会发生在Lin的黑人队友身上的。特别让我注意的是Ethnic studies 教授 Daryl Maeda的话：“In this country, Asian Americans are stereotyped as the meek and the mild, the ones who will always take the racism。 There is a perception that it's OK to offend Asian Americans because they simply won't fight back。”

Daryl的解释和我的感觉是一样的：亚裔受到歧视的很重要的一个原因，就是面对歧视不做为。这里面包括Jeremy Lin自己，能忍就忍, 结果，明明表现出色，却处处受压制。要不是Knicks最后闹到无人可用的地步，Jeremy恐怕躲不过再次被裁的命运。

所以，我们华裔家长，为了孩子，也为了自己，该把反歧视教育，也当成子女教育的一部份，并身体力行。最近。大家团结起来迫使 ESPN快速道歉并解雇肇事者，就是一个成功的例子。

最后，我想说，面对歧视， Overeaction is much better than toleration.
