Prepaid college Tuition Plan, good?

Sorry that I cannot type chinese at work.

Friend told me that he bought a Prepaid Tuition plan a few years ago. It is like you can buy now and use it to cover a kid's college tuition. 100 unit = 1 yr tuition. he bought 400 unit so that it will cover his kid 4-year college tuition.

he bought at $40/unit a few years ago. and now the price goes up to $176/unit. And looks like the price will go up in the future since college tuition increase so much every year. He said it is the best investment he ever did.

Is this a good way to save for kids college tuition? my son is 5 yr. and we currently only have the normal 529.
