在1998-2008的十年时间，ＨＤ股票的总体回报是负的。对于有些股市参与者（不是股市投资者），这是无法理解和接受的，HD不是美国最优秀的长期蓝筹股吗？买HD， 怎么可能亏钱？如果买最优秀的公司股票都要赔钱，股市不是欺骗，还是什么？
从1998年至2008年，HD的红利上涨了10倍，公司的经营业绩也是一路上升，HD公司表现非常出色，所以公司没问题。股票交易所只是个服务机构，它对股票也没有任何对实质影响。唯一出问题的就是股市的参与者。人性的贪婪和愚昧轻易的遮盖了最优秀的公司的光辉。
我们很难想象，如果一间出租房的租金（红利）10年涨十倍，而这间出租房的房价却是下跌50%。
在过去几十年里，老巴只有二次公开的评论过大市，1998年和2008年。听他1998年的话，可以避开重大的投资损失，听他2008年的话，赚的钱够你下半辈子享乐。

在几十年里，HD的红利收入刻画了一条十分迷人的上升曲线。我以前谈论过投资者B的投资组合，B的红利收入在过去二十年里也刻画了一条相似的上升曲线。许多家喻户晓的公司都有这样一条性感曲线，KO，PEP， PG，V，MA，CVS，XOM，CVX，MCD，CL，LOW等等数以百计。
加国银行的性感曲线的时间跨度是一百多年，一百多年从不向下，永远向上的曲线。
在股市的汪洋大海中，如果一心一意的顺着这些无比诱人的曲线的方向一步步前进，我们能到达梦境中的绿洲吗？
