介绍一些HMS申请过程。HMS 每年招235人上下。 最后入学165人左右 (including 15 MD/PHD students). 分两个programs -- New Pathway 和HST.New Pathway class 有135人左右。HST class 30上下。
New Pathway program focuses on "problem-based learning tutorials, with coordinated lectures, labs, experiences in humanistic medicine, and clinical experiences"。
HST prepares "students receiving the MD to excel as physician-scientists highly qualified to care for patients and participate in biomedical research careers in which they will assume leadership positions."
下面说一下HMS HST program的申请过程。HMS 每年大约有５，６千人申请。第一轮，学校 向２００人发出HST interview 的邀请。然后淘汰１２０人，剩下８０人进入第二轮。第二轮的挑选非常复杂，细节略过。第二轮淘汰一半。剩下的４０人就是最后的录取者。
因为这４０人大都是成绩极优秀者或者已显示出优秀researcher 潜质的人，所以有一些人接受其他学校的Scholarship而不来HMS （HMS 不给Scholarship 只有need based finance aid). 最后的HST class 每年大概是３０人。
medical school 的申请过程很长很艰辛也很充满戏剧性。。。。
