I called my landload to terminate the lease on July 20, they told me that I have to pay the rent for the whole month of Aug.
I asked them could they give me another apartment to live for this month, they refused. I told they that we have little kids and old parents who have heart problem, we can't live here any longer, they said that they can't do anything.
We live in New York City, is there any law could protect us? I want to move out as soon as possible, or pay the landload less rent for Aug. if we can't terminate the lease right away? Can we sue the landload? or can we call any city department to complain or ask for help?
Thank you very much! We have to live in our friends' house during the day.
(What if I don't pay any rent and just move out this weekend? Will I get any trouble? I have paid one month deposit to the landload when I moved in.I don't want it any more, just want to leave. Thanks!)
