sometimes the teacher may not be "that good"; the small gift can be helpful. As mentioned before, we gave our son's teachers gift card not for obtaining any extra point on exam or any incorrect advantages. But, simply, to avoid some potential unfair treatment or get certain forgiveness in grey areas. my 2 cents.
