根据2010年数据，“there were an estimated 5,419,000 crashes (30,296 fatal crashes), killing 32,999 and injuring 2,239,000.”

2010年美国的人口大约3亿，假如每人一生开车40年，那么一生中：
52%的可能遇上车祸，
26%的可能在车祸中受伤，
0.4%的可能死于车祸
这是比较笼统的估计，因为所有的3亿人都是当作分母，实际的可能性应该更高。
