Fluid Mechanics (.5 credit)
This engineering semester course surveys the topics of fluid flow in pipe: fluid properties, hydrostatics, conservation laws, Bernoulli’s Equation, Kirchoff’s Law and fluid friction in pipe. Students will work with the elements of a piping system: pumps, pipe, fittings, valves and instruments. Emphasis is placed on developing a solid conceptual understanding of fluid flow at the macroscopic level. Applications of Fluid Flow to various fields of Engineering, Medicine and Physics will be explored. Students will gain hands-on experience with individual piping system components as well as a complete piping system, the PumpLab™ Centrifugal Pump and Process Control System
