Questions that need answers for my Occupation Paper: 

 

Your job is to journal about all the questions that you can answer without any additional information. Be as descriptive and detailed as you can in this journaling activity. 

 

Highlight the questions on here that you need to research in order to answer the question completely. If you come up with new questions to research - add a new row and put all your additional questions in BLUE TEXT. All your research information should also be in blue text. Make sure to put direct quotes into quotation marks on this document so that you know later what needs to be cited as a direct quote.  

 

Some of these you might be able to journal a few things but will need to find additional information somewhere else. Keep track of the questions that come to mind that you need to research to find more information as you journal. You will need to record those questions on a separate assignment question. 

 

What do I want to be when I grow up?

A doctor (pediatrician)

Who do I know (or know of) in this profession that has inspired me?

I have a friend who is going into the medical field also this one kid once told me I looked like their doctor.

Why does this job seem appealing to me?

It seems like an enjoyable job, and I like science and medicine.

What are the daily responsibilities and tasks?

“They assess patients, diagnose diseases and illnesses, and treat a variety of conditions.”

Why would this job be stressful / hard or easy/ enjoyable?

Stressful and hard because you have heavy workloads and long hours.

What kind of education or experience would you need to have to be successful? 

Pre-med programs and degrees, bachelor of science in biology, bachelor of science in chemistry

What universities offer the degree programs you would need? 

Albany Medical College, quite a few Ivy League schools, etc., St. Louis University, University of Illinois at Chicago.

How long would you have to be in school? 

8 years, but more for training. Fast track 6 years

What score would you need on an ACT/SAT to be eligible for acceptance into the school?

Your SAT scores should be at least 1,400 and ACT above 33,  MACT: 472-528

What is the annual salary for an entry level position?

About $150,000 

Are there opportunities for advancement?

Yes. 

How will you give back to the community with your skills?

I’ll be able to help children.
