Admittedly UCB EECS is super in tech job placement, but Duke might offer a more well-rounded experience for undergraduate education.
Duke engineering is small but decent. If your son ever puts in the same level of effort as he would at UCB EECS, he can get to wherever UCB EECS could bring him to. No doubt about that.
Wait a minute ... he may not even end up with engineering ... then Duke has an even stronger case.
I just feel that paying private college cost for state university - even for mighty schools like Cal, UM or UCLA, is not as appealing as attending a US News top 10 private university.
