Assist a physician. The actual relationship between PA and physcican is collaboration. PAs have their own license, the right to prescribe medications and to order lab test.  PA is a member in a health care team with physician/ surgeon/ PA /RN...the main model of health care now and Future. Also, to appropriately reflect the job done by PA, the name will likely be changed in the coming years.

 

If your D wants to be a PA for sure, applying for BS/MS PA program from HS is the best option.  Unfortunately, there are no such combined program in CA now, there are around 40 in the nation. Majority is in the NE including Pennsylvania, NY....

Getting into PA programs are highly competitive....
