review:Lousy companion fare deals!!!

The card if fine for charging things, but our primary reason is to accumulate Alaska Airline miles and take advantage of the companion fare. Although sometimes the companion fare is a better deal, we have found that it is too often a really bad deal. For example, we have found it cheaper to buy tickets from Hawaiian Airlines at full fare, than to purchase through Alaska with a companion ticket. How can this be? As a very long-time member of the Alaska program and user of the Alaska CC, I have seriously thought about changing my affiliation, because the value has vanished
