when I was driving 3 kids ( 5 year old) to listen a formal concert, That was propbaly their first time to see a professional performance. I told them, who they would see was worldly famous. He plays very good piano songs. Two boys said at the same time, "what! there is someone play better than me !?". Another girl, who has an older brother, said "How could someone plays better than my bro?"
So the girl's horizon was a little bit wider than the two boys. Both boys thought they were the best, the girl thought she was the second best, and her bro is the best! Very funny memory for me.
For years, I watched them grow, becoming the "prodigies" in soy-sauce parents' eyes, while becoming more modesty , more realistic self-evaluated, and more self-motiovated. Kids understand the world faster than parents realize. No-one stops at 5 year old illusions.
