The actual audition takes only  a few minutes. What will kids do in the rest of 3 or 4 hours? They might practice for one hour or two? What would they do then?  Not all parents can be there to support them. Someone has to organize activities to kill the bordom, someone has to stop somerhing from causing trouble, someone has to console someone who fails to make it, someone has to know for sure when the bus is leaving, and where to meet... Music talent and skill is only part of it. After all, there are more kids who do not make it than kids do.
