It is worth every moment of it, including not making the cut.

Auditioning for All-State is not an experience that can be forgotten easily. It is messy, it is noisy, it is disorienting from alayman' point view. It is heartening to  see kids  practicing volunteerily, playing cards in groups, mingling with kids from other district.  Every  high schooler in band or orchestra should experience at least once, after all, it is like a sport as well. How did I know? I heard it being told by a upper classmen to freshmen too many times." you should try it. It is lots o fun.  Bring a card game, and your homework. It is very long, etc".
