I have seen all those textbooks teaching middle/high school algebra but titled College Algebra. They are full of whole page photographs, wordy exercises/examples, step-by-step instructions on how to solve the easiest problems. In reality, the students will never read the textbooks. They just want to know the answer. They just want one button on a calculator to give the answers. Such textbooks are thicker and thicker, and it is not common to have 1000 pages in such a textbook.
K-12 textbooks are not much better.
