My hu*****and and I paid the full price for our daughter's undergraduate, over $200,000 for 4 years, and over $190,000 for her law school. We don't regret spending those money on her education. Of course, each family is different. We only have one child. To send her to her desired schools didn't affect our retirement savings or quality of our family life. The keys to our "success"case are (1) my hu*****and and I have relatively high incomes; (2) we started saving for our daughter's education very early. So, by the time she started her undergraduate study, we had over $420,000 in a 529 plan for her.
My point is that it is better to start saving for our children's education early for those relatively high income families.
