It is unfortuanate that he did not make it to the program this time. It is very forutante that it happened so early in his life. If this was his "first", "major" "failure", be happy that it is only a science test.  It should be an gold opportunity for parents to help their kids realize that there will always be other kids who are richer, brighter, bigger, faster, smaller, stronger, and luckier.  The earlier we realize that, the better.
