This is what I told my kids

We are so blass to be with you in the first 18 years of your life.  From the day you leave for college to the day we could not see anything, we will probably see each other for less than 2 years.   So, let's treasure every minutes we have together from here on. 

This Thanksgiving, DD is far away in hawaii so we are driving up to visit DS.
