We 放养 our two daughters so far. My old one is in College now. 放养 means i watch TV at night and she watch TV herself or on computer for our family. We don't have any "study" plan for them. What i did so far is sending them for piano lesson. We don't "push" too much for practice because they don't listen anyway. My old one is very 独立. because she knows mom is "lazy'.
