Here is the descriptions from internet about this work:
This very lively little piece is an excerpt from the great South American composer's "Prole do Bebe" suite, which contains musical descriptions of a baby's dolls. This is a popular encore piece for concert performers, played sometimes so quickly as to seem almost a blur.
O polichinelo depicts the popular clown-puppet, Punch, a likable rogue who carried a stick and had a habit of knocking over anyone who disagreed with him. This one was composed the year Villa-Lobos met pianist Arthur Rubinstein. The pianist was one of the composer's most important early champions, who thrilled audiences with O Polichinelo.
While this music evokes childhood as well as anyone has since Schumann, it is by no means children's music; it is difficult, often virtuosic, piano music. The composer encouraged Rubinstein to use it as an encore by authorizing a repeat and adding a rapid glissando at the end.
