We did push our kids for some piano lessons early on. But we honored DS's decision when he did not want to take any more lessons in JH. Both our kids pick their own sports and classes 100%. With limited income, we really never even think about a private HS. Most of the population are educated by the public school.
Well, some of you may think we failed because our DD did not get into HYP. But we are o.k. with that. I really regret that I pushed DD to get higher standard test scores instead of doing what she wanted to do.
As the old saying, the head will be straight when the boat comes to the front of the bridge. If your kids have what it take to be successful, he/she will be. Pushing them this hard at 6th grade is not cool, IMHO.
