Incest doesn't neccessairly produce defected offsprings, but it increases the chance of defected offsprings if there is such a gene.

Increasing gene pool is beneficial to the evoluation of human race.

Also, how many people do you know that are incentuous by nature? That is, they don't have a choice, but must engage in sexual relations with their parents/siblings?
