From what you described, I think the boy's parents are quite frustrated too. Going to nursery can be a hard time for the little boy, so any behavioral change is regarded as normal. Once he gets over his "offensive defense" period, he may be OK again.

Meanwhile, it is a good idea to stay away from the boy for a while.
