We made an effort to attend each and every parent/teacher conferences. One of my daughter's teacher actually told my D that the only reason we are scheduling conference is to hear others say good things about our kids. We do... ... but we gain a lot more from these friendly conferences.
One thing is to make sure the teacher knows us and knows our kids. For example, each GC is writing profiles for about 50 kids. The more they know you and your kids, the more time they will put in writing it. Plus, we always bring some home made cookies or cakes to school.
When our D just got from Junior high to HS, I went to talk to their qizzball teacher and told him DD was the captain of 1st team of state as a junior. She was immediately promoted to the first team in HS and got to compete with all seniors.
Each teacher has their own way of teaching and evaluating. We always use this conference to learn their style and use that to help our kids if they have nay problem in particular class. This is like getting a book that teacher like to reference etc.
At the end of the day, if parents show that they care, teachers will care.
