Most of them live in Albany, CA 94706 if you have kids
School district is good(3 elementary, 1 junior high and 1 high school) in east bay, rank is 10 of 10 from greatschool.net. But house is very old, average $600,000 above for about $1000SQT and the APT rental from $1200 -1500/month. I am not sure what the exactly price now, for I left there last fall.
Some of them live in hercules,CA. House is newer, expensive as well, school rank is about 9 of 10.
If you don't have kids, berkeley hill/Oakland hill will be good, but very expensive. Don't rent APT in downtown berkeley or Oakland, not safe area. Or you can choose El Cerrito, CA. Close to Albany.
If you want to rent APT in Albany, I can give you my old landlord phone number, he own a lot of APT/house in Albany and he can give you month by month with lower deposit.
Berkeley is really nice place, no winter/summer.
