That's from the school. When they became capable of reading, they may read 1-2 hours each day from the reading list plus whatever they pick from the library. 1/2 hour Chinese classics story time at night(will add Greek and Jewish myths later)
We are not pressing them for music instruments. If they can not bring themselves to practice routinely, we just drop the class.
There are Chinese parents who are just out of their mind. Know some fella with three kids spending probably 10 grands on a Kawai but did not even erect a swing set in the yard( just drove by their house yesterday).
Home work per day = grade*20min/day
