As soon as you find your child gets attached to a certain stuffed animal, buy another one that is exactly the same. Always let him have just one of them and hide the other. There are two advantages: 1. you can clean one of them while having the other one cleaned. (This way the two animals will age the same way and won't look too different to the child.) 2. If you lose one, at least he still has another.
