俺家小子当年申请学校时(2)

俺没掺合, 只求能找一个给钱多的学校. 俺在的洲立大学的EE 不赖,TOP10,若能上资优班,还能全免.俺从没想过去藤校,因为俺儿既没有进SAT补习班,在家也不努力,说是校气,班风,不能特殊. 11年级时,在家做了一年的汽车模型,还上网比赛.还赢过几次银子.俺以为12年才是关键年.
当俺儿SAT中了大彩后(该班共有三人中大彩),真应了”有所不为才能有所为”的古训.俺儿买了本COLLEGE大全,看中了一藤叶,离家又远,俺也不了解那滕叶有多好.俺家门口就有一好藤叶,俺又在那里讨饭吃,若俺儿摘了这片藤叶,白花花的银子又省了.

儿中彩后,俺心里开始活泛了,跟”李同学”一样犯糊涂,只想摘最大的滕叶.但俺儿心里的滕叶,和俺不一样,又不忍和父母对立,在EA的期间,就向最大的滕叶进军了.
2篇essay,让老师和老美拍案叫绝,其中一篇,优美幽默,描述猴子与教育的关联,歌颂了大滕叶,又在整篇文章里找不出大滕叶的名子,当时俺想,俺从他十岁起,订杂志的银子没白花.可惜写的那只猴子不是他,后来才知犯了大忌.后果,看官们已经猜到了.
这时,距离正常申请期限,只剩两周了.七个学校近20篇的ESSAY 要写,俺儿没有准备,被DEFFER打了个措手不及.各位看官,在等待EA发榜期间,要做好两手准备.事情过后,才知道很多老美的学生,从暑假就开始准备ESSAY,可见它的地位与SAT不相上下.俺们的”无为而治”,蒙过了第一关,混不过第二关.

头悬樑,锥刺股,衣不解带,俺看得心直痛.但俺儿的文章,风格依旧,从猴子到人再到自己,以一篇”我为什么要学会打响指”摘取了俺儿心中那片绿滕叶.发榜之夜,当兰色的LCD屏幕闪烁着welcome class 2008 时,俺儿激动的抱着俺跳, 在之前,其它六所学校都录取了,包括俺混饭的那片滕叶,但俺儿只等他心中的那片绿滕叶.这片绿滕叶在当年是录取率最低的.
尊重孩子的选择, 把虚荣心放到父母的口袋里,乃是和协家庭的一大幸事.
