今天是 9.18， 我第一个想到的是张纯茹

刚才有人问:为什么有影响的南京大屠杀是个不懂中文的张莼茹写的. 要回答这问题挺不容易。

One of the reason that 张纯茹 is so acclaimed for the “Rape of Nanking” is because it is the first book in English version in Western World and its’ detailed stories were very well written. I didn’t read this book, but I read her another book about Chinese Immigrants history in the U.S.. I am so amazed by her thorough research and good writing skill, they made her books so appealing, can be accepted by Western readers.

There are other Chinese who wrote documentary books about Japanese invasion of China. However, the books are published in China, the readers/market are not here. 张纯茹 Is the 1st author who makes Western world know about Japanese invasion of Nanjing.

2ndly, 张纯茹 is very passionate, she was very driven to fight for justice. Her parents mentioned that when she was 5-yr-old, she made a stories book about good buy beat bad buy. Her compassion can make her so dedicated to the stories/books.

In the contrast, in my opinion, a lot of Chinese kids are taught to be more practical, more academic/good job driven. I think kids in U.S. are generally more genuine. However, when it comes to what we want our kids to be in the future, most of us still want them to be doctors, lawyers, engineers, those more stable, safe jobs.

国人的明则保身，已磨灭了我们的锐气。
