I found a new job in State A. We found a "market" house that they must close in March. If we purchased that house, we would have at least 50K equity at the first day. And the house is about 10 minutes away from my work. But the school here is not very good.
There are four families of Chinese in this company here. Only one purchased house here. All other purchased their house 35 or 45 miles away in a different state. They will have to drive 45 to 60 minutes one way every day, living in a 30 or 40 year old house. Because they want to have a better school district for their kids.
I am doing the same. We are buying a 31 year old house in the neighboring state. For my kids to have a better school, I would do any/every thing.
