When the kid gets permanent teeth, make sure he/she brush them correctly; I suppose you can check whether he/she is doing the right way once a week and demonstrate the correct way. Also check the teeth with a flash light at home once a while (say every month or so) so you can catch problem before it gets serious--of course, the important thing is to do prevention. And you need to do flossing for him/her at this age.
