Core Chemistry Requirements:
  • General Chemistry: Two semesters (or three quarters) with associated labs.
  • Organic Chemistry: Two semesters (or three quarters) with associated labs, often considered the most challenging prerequisite.
  • Biochemistry: One semester (or quarter) is often required or strongly recommended, usually with a lab component.
For medical school, AP Chemistry can grant credit, but

many med schools don't accept it for core prerequisites, requiring you to take college General Chemistry (Chem 1 & 2) anyway to ensure a strong foundation and meet diverse school requirements for upper-level courses like Organic Chemistry.
