Don't worry

My son broke his arm a couple of years ago. ER only stabled his arm without doing any cast. We saw a 骨科医生 the next day and got proper treatment. He was able to go back to sports after a few months.

P.S. It is a usual practice here to wait a couple of days before putting on a cast (need to wait for the swollen area to disappear). But I insisted that the 骨科医生saw us the next day.
