What we have here is a lack of communication.
You need to be a buddy, not a supervisor to her. My sweet daughter is in 8th grade, and she likes to talk with me about her school work, her friends, classmates, and teachers. Whenever I help her solve a difficult problem, she would say, "You are so smart." And, I would say to her, "You are good at brown-nosing me, right?" And, we both would laugh.
She is not getting all A's now, but she already ppromised me that starting at 9th grade she will get all A's.
