impression is:
1. generally speaking, before going to college, girls perform well than boys overall.
2. generally speaking, chinese kids might perform well academically, but...
3. there is a context behind every contest. they have their rules, no matter they look fair to you or not.

i don't associate everything with discrimination. at least i don't like that way :)
