schools track these things, from a case study in our town

a few years ago, an Indian girl ED got in an Ivy but broke ED for another EA school.  the ED school typically admits about 5 students from our high school, but did NOT admit a single student for the next three (or four) years.

the kid herself became infamous.  there is price to be paid.

"justify" it to oneself however one wants to.  Breaking ED is bad for the kid's high school, and in the long run, bad for the kid herself.
