His self-awareness is not what it should be.

Have him read a children's version of the Bible, the Genesis story, where Adam and Eve become self-aware and are driven out of Eden.

Ask him if he wants to stay in paradise or venture out.

Have him help with chores. Give him responsibilities.

Respect him as an individual and ask for his opinions.
