COC was established by one of SCS initializers Crecine

When Crecine came to GTech from CMU in 1987 as its 9th president, SCS had already started its initial operation as an independent department in 1986. SCS became a indepent college in 1988, two years ahead of GTech where Crecine established COC. These two schools are similar both in culture and organization.
