The dead gets a better treatment

 

You often hear people say: "We should not talk about her like this; she cannot defend herself from the grave."

That manager shoud have been reminded of cc'ing her in his email.

 

Not every problem has a solution.  You did what you thought was the most benign outcome for yourself.  There's nothing wrong with that.

Someone else might have talked with her manager about what was happening.
