i agree with you. My key point to my son is that

if he really just wants to do research, just go ahead to get Ph.D. Like Dr. Feng Zhang, and many other successful ABC boys here, they have been doing great in their field. If he wants to do research, at the same time wants to get better paid and save lifes as a side job (), he does not need to get md/phd. Many md are doing great research works. Based on my observation, the doctors, either md or md/phd, who are doing research, usually get paid less, as they see less patients. I admire them very much. I just provide what I have heard and observed here. Every kid is different. I do not expect my son to fully listen to me.
