In my personal opinion, if one

really wants to work on BME, just work on engineering. The combination may sound good, but actually not focus enough. The biology/medical part is simple; one needs MD as collaborators any way. The challenge part is engineering part. If one wants to go to medical school, premed should be less challenging than BME. my 2 cents.
