Agree, at least up to this point.

Jenny@33's HS mate did that. After 2 summer internship at WS firms, she quickly realized that such "analyst" career or consulting was not her like--no matter how much the perceived high-pay would be. In 2006, she got into a top ECON PhD program when fewer were competing for admission, where she also met her husband in another PhD program. Graduating in 5 yrs, she started a tenure-track faculty position in a big city where her husband started his TT at a nearby college. Now, both get tenured and live in the house they bought by their own. This AY is her sabbatical as a happy expecting mother.

But this path would be hard for an ECON girl to start @33, wouldn't it?
