7 footer vs. 9 footer

Many pianists actually like 7 footers better than 9 footers. They feel that the former has better balance between the bass and treble than the latter. However, in large concert halls, 9 footers are more powerful and looks nice. Believe it or not, JS Bach thought the bass in Cristofori's early 18 C. instruments was too strong. The bass section in the modern concert grands is way more powerful than those early pianofortes.
