I had dealings with Ben Edelman in a previous job – I was an executive at one of the companies he critiqued – and I’ll confess, I’m shedding no tears for him now. About 20% of the stuff he criticized us for was entirely legitimate, stuff we needed to fix; about 50% was mostly excessive zeal on his part, and while not really fair was not entirely unfair either; and the remaining 30% he was just wrong, flat-out, and he could never be brought to admit it. When I saw this going viral yesterday, and read his emails, I thought, “Yup, that’s entirely the Ben Edelman I remember.”
