Reasonable amount of scholarship helps reduce student's financia
In my daughter'case, she received $2500 scholarship per year from local community (County Foundation). Her financial package included student contribution $1250, student loan $1600 and work-study $2100. So she used the $2500 scholarship to get rid of the $1600 loan and $900 student contribution. So she paid only $350 by herself and kept the $2100 work-study. Definitely the scholarship was helping her to reduce her (or our) financial burden. But no matter how much scholarship the student receives from outside sources, the parents contribution stays the same.
