I agree with most of your points. It is difficult to judge whether Lang's method is right or wrong but luck is certainly on their side and they are prepared for the luck. Lang Lang is a whole package. He has a great personality and is quite smart. Media and his management team likes him a lot. In Europe, most of the classical music audiences are at least middle aged. They simply love him. He is always warm and patient with his audience. I saw him talking to them after concert although the smile may not come from his heart but it is there. I admire him for that.

Yundi is a very skilled pianist but the media and managememt team do not like him as he is too shy. It is difficult to make a super star out of a quiet person.

So everything counts, skill, talent, determination, luck and personality. Do your children have them all?
