This was not the case. Jobs wanted to sell Mac in low price so Apple could sell a ton, but John Scully wanted to have high margin. John convinced the board and Steve was quite unhappy about it.

 

iPad was Steve's trade mark. iPad's price was so low, no other competitors could make similar products and sell at the same prices without losing money.
