Give you my scenario here - only hockey (current season) not including swimming, baseball & basketball (spring and summer):

Time: Son - 4 or 5 times a week, 1 hour each practice or game + driving + putting on/taking off all the gears;  + offsite clinics (powerskating, puck handling) 

         Daughter - 2 times a week, 1 hour each practice or game + driving + putting on/taking off all the gears

Locations: all over the down (20 more hockey rinks, randomly selected)

Parents Efforts: besides the work above, parent volunteering is a huge amount of efforts. Fundraising, team bonding, out of city tournaments

Money: min. registration $1000, gear $300, fundraising last year $750, + tournaments $2000 + all personal training up to you.

No ends for these kind of efforts. If we don't work, I will feel the difficulties of pushing my kids this way.
